Katakana Mini Research Project

From this katakana mini research project, I learned that katakana usage do not limited to the loanword that do not exist in Japan. It is a very interesting project. Japanese prefer the remain the original pronunciation of a loanword written in katakana. Other than that, katakana is a form of creativity. Katakana can highlight out the main point of the brand or the word that we want to emphasize.

Additional information:
From the information I get, last time katakana content gender discrimination. In Japan, male status is higher than the female. So no matter how poor a family is, they will try their best to give kanji name to their son but for daughter they do not concern much.

  1. この性差別について、私も今まで考えたことがありませんでした。新しい発見でした!親が子どもに付ける名前の文字に、その子どもに対する思いや期待(高い期待、低い期待も含めて)が表れているんですよね。
